bus stop

He moved his fingers in his shoulder length hair straightening it. “When will it grow long enough for me to make pony of it? “ He wondered.

Getting restless he looked at his watch. “Why is she late today?”

He is more concerned about the girl than his own cab which he used daily for making it to office.

Then suddenly he saw her coming.

His heart started pounding “she is so beautiful” he thought. For the first time in his life he has fallen for a girl so desperately that he has not cared for any other physical feature.

The 10 minutes wait at the bus stop was worth it.

A few minutes spent in admiring her beauty gave him the motivation and excitement to work for the rest of the day.

She came close to him and stood just a few meters away from him. She was waiting for her bus.

If given a wish he would have asked for a head-on collision between her college bus and his office cab far away from the stop so that both can spend rest of their day waiting at the stop and then if his luck favors he can even drop her to the college.

His office cab would arrive at 8:20 while her bus at 8:15.He arrived at 8:10. So that he has at least 10 min to appreciate her beauty.

He saw her giving side glances. This reciprocation excited him. From the last few days he has sensed that she also have started noticing him. But usually he dismissed it as his illusion.

Looking at her made him lose sight of his entire work load, his targets, his boss, his distributors, almost eth that has made his life havoc.

From the first day he has seen her, waiting for the cab in the morning has become the most wonderful event of the day.

She is simple, good-looking but the best factor was the innocence on her face. She was hard to get into any conversation as she stood there alone and quite, not engaging in talk with any of her college mates. The only activity he noticed of her was turning her face in the direction from which bus used to come.

He located himself purposely in that direction only so as to have a good look at her face and have an illusion of her noticing him. He missed a chance to converse with her the day before, when she missed her bus. He noticed her coming after he got into the cab. He cursed the guy on wheels which was one of his colleagues for not stopping the cab which prevented him from getting out of it and hence offering help to her. He was not sure whether he could have actually taken courage to go and talk to her but it was comfortable for him to blame it on others for this mishap.

“I bet she would have come with if I would have asked her” he shouted at the guy on wheels.

“For that you need to ask her “the guy on wheels replied.

“For that you needed to stop the car but damn you didn’t do tat”.

He noticed her giving a side glance again.

“is she interested in me?....i wonder if she has any boy friend…..but how the hell am I going to find that out??...i need to talk to her….today…or it would be better if wait till tomorrow…if she at least gives a glance today…I will talk to her tomorrow…or a smile would be enough…”his heart titillated within these thoughts.

Her bus came. She moved slowly towards the bus. Suddenly she turned and looked at him. His heart beat stopped. “is she looking at me?”he looked around. There was no one there except him.”Damn she is looking at me….does she wants to say something??...”

She turned back and got into the bus and took a window seat. He was still looking at her expecting something more “a second stare …or…or … a smile…would be like heaven..”

Her friend seated next to her nudged her and said “you were not able to speak a word to him and neither was he…at least say something to him…its your last day in the city…u r leaving today…come on…he at least deserves a smile..”

She turned towards him and looked at him from the window. The bus started moving. His eyes met hers.

His mind went blank. He has never experienced such a sensation ever before. She gave a smile. A wave of current ran through his body. His heart almost jumped out. He has never felt as excited as he was now but he was so dumbstruck that he was not able to move physically. He pinched himself hard. “Ouuch.” He was not dreaming.

The bus moved on and he kept looking at her till his eyes lost track of her.

His colleague came. He jumped and hugged him.

“She gave a smile to me. I am going to talk to her tomorrow. My love story has finally begun”

“Today was the last day I saw him. This story has ended” she said to her friend.
